Nostalgia being the most exquisite thing. It was just another day at school or plain old day at office But for me they turned into something more. All i wanted is to pause myself from the monotony of daily humdrum and recall a story that unfolded 6 years ago—that of our good old college days.
In the search of this myself along with my cheerful and energetic friend Raghu walked across the campus towards my final year engineering class. It was ten minutes past 11 and I was totally fagged, sweaty and almost drained of energy .ahhhh… extremely tired and completely exhausted as I did not had sufficient sleep from past two nights..(thanks to GE for my miserable condition :-p) .Well, but somewhere some spark kept me awake . Although there was’nt even a single trace of any life in the college It was very draggy except for we two.
Another ten steps.. and there was our class with the doors shut ! we were on the fifth floor... and the sun raising up with its orange rays was creating a wizardly scene. I pondered for a moment , wished time to stop at that very moment. Then we opened the doors of the class for one last time.
That very moment I could imagine Anita ma’am teaching Computer Applications Wished i cud ask my her..."may i come in.... " and wanted to hear her shout.... "You late again and again... no attendance this time." but to my dismay there was no one except empty desks and we two.
we were gaping at the black board, desks and walls all void. and the raised platform where the supposed to be excruciating classes were to be held and the last benches, where we had loads of fun , we were kicked out of class so many times for playing bollywood while at class . Hiding from the teachers and pleading them attendance. million memories flowed like a whirlpool into the fortress of our minds. There was complete silence for a moment and we both smiled a each other, I was pretty sure that in the depths of his psychological or intellectual profundity, same thoughts might have been flowed.
We then walked like champs cherishing our past memories ,jumping over the benches..
And we also had a look at the bench .. where we used to sit and play bollywood all the time :)drifted to our place, sat there, side seats. dint feel like the last day .... don't remember how we met .... how we came to such a stage... feels like i know my friends from ages... feel
like as if i was born in this college..... feel like i was always here... The entire class was still there alive.... the last benchers sleeping.......... the gals chatting amongst themselves........... the
teacher in her own world...... imran sitting besides me .... cribbing
about something .... shashi sitting on first bench taking down notes.... and raghu smiling at the babes.... gopi ... trying talking to the gals... and we laughing about something of the other..... me
occasionally scribbling something on my notepad............ making some sketches.. or playing bollywood .............
Ahh.. Raghu asking me to look outside... for some babes standing there....... and i without even a word...looked outside.. it was an unsaid communication..... but today there wasn't anybody
there................ just the abandoned corridor.......... and i could see only “Arjun” the chai wala at the end... no one there. As a living witness of this long forgotten years stands the lone Kaman in our campus premises.
we sat there all alone ,closed our eyes, for the entire world outside the walls of the campus was calling us. We just wanted to attend one last lecture. but this time there was no one to take that last lecture. And this time i wished we could attend one last lecture, wish we could really rewind time and play it back.
So much fun we used to have those days and it was a concoction of muddles and madness, scrapes and skirmishes, ruckus and rumpus. Love those days or hate those days but one cannot ignore college days.
